Franklin Creative Media is a Professional boutique media archiving company, that only uses the best available equipment for transfers. For instance, most of our competitors use cheap consumer VHS VCRs to transfer home videos. We use professional S-VHS VCRs that have far superior color separation, tracking, better signal to noise ratio, etc, for a far superior transfer. We use these VCRs even for standard VHS SP speed tapes. We have additional S-VHS VCRs just for playing back SLP / EP speed tapes. Additionally, all analog tapes are passed through a Time Base Corrector (TBC) that vastly improves the video signal, removes or reduces dropouts, and allows for the adjustment of video levels.
That is why besides countless consumers, many entertainment personalities, and Hollywood producers, have used Franklin Creative Media to transfer their tapes for use in their documentaries.
Franklin Creative Media is not like all the "big box" Video and Audio tape transfer businesses that advertise all over, and want you to ship your memories to a warehouse across the country, where they will be transferred by someone who was flipping burgers at their last job. All the tapes are transferred by a professional who has over 30 years experience in the business. We believe in good communication, and are more than happy to explain the process to you.
Besides the popular H.264 / MP4 format, that most consumers want for easy playback, we have options to "up rez" tapes in real time, to HD or 4K using Teranex Video Processors, and record them as Pro Res and DNxH (Avid) formats for higher quality needed for professional editing.
We can also transfer to the older DVD, Blu-Ray and CD formats.

U-matic was the very first video cassette format. We discus the history of the format, and the VCRs.
